Our service and calibration teams have decades of experience in the industry and operate out of both the Head Office in Leicester and the Northeast Service Centre located in County Durham.

humidity calibration service from MWSTypes of Humidity Calibration

We support a broad range of temperature instruments and systems, including:

  • Humidity sensors
  • Humidity chambers

All calibrations are carried out traceable to national standards.

On-Site Humidity Calibration Services

We provide three core types of temperature calibration on site. Each addresses a different part of the measurement system and can be delivered individually or as part of a complete site service.

1. Humidity Simulation

Simulation is used for humidity sensors that are read on a chart recorder, controller or HMI screen that can’t be removed from service.

By simulating humidity signals across the full operating range, we verify that:

  • The chart recorder, controller or HMI is set up correctly
  • The displayed value matches the simulated input
  • Scaling and configuration are accurate

2. Humidity Probes and Readouts

For full loop calibration, we test humidity probes and their associated indicators from 11 to 75% RH using calibration sets.

This service checks the complete measurement chain, from probe through to display. It confirms that:

  • The probe is performing within tolerance
  • The transmitter or indicator is reading correctly
  • The system as a whole provides reliable data

3. Humidity Mapping

Humidity mapping is essential for controlled environments such as environmental chambers.

Using three calibrated probes, we monitor humidity over a defined period to assess:

  • Humidity gradients within the chamber
  • Stability over time
  • Overall compliance with your required limits

Our mapping equipment covers a wide range from 0 to 100% RH, allowing us to support applications in industrial processes.

Humidity Calibration FAQ

What is humidity calibration and why does it matter?

Humidity calibration is the process of verifying and adjusting humidity measuring instruments to ensure their readings are accurate and traceable to national standards. Accurate humidity measurement is essential for maintaining product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance in industries such as manufacturing, food and beverage production, healthcare, and laboratory environments. Without regular calibration, instrument drift can go undetected, putting processes and compliance at risk.

What types of humidity instruments does MWS calibrate?

MWS calibrates a wide range of humidity sensors and instruments, including handheld meters, transmitters, humidity probes and readouts, and environmental chambers. Whether you need a single instrument checked or a full site service, our engineers have the expertise and equipment to support you.

What humidity calibration services does MWS offer on site?

We provide three core on-site humidity calibration services: humidity simulation, humidity probe and readout calibration, and humidity mapping. Each service targets a different part of the measurement system and can be delivered individually or combined as part of a comprehensive site visit.

What is humidity simulation calibration and when is it used?

Humidity simulation is used when a sensor feeds into a chart recorder, controller, or HMI screen that cannot be taken out of service. By simulating humidity signals across the full operating range, our engineers verify that the chart recorder or controller is correctly configured, that displayed values match the simulated input, and that scaling and settings are accurate, all without interrupting your process.

What does humidity probe and readout calibration involve?

For full loop calibration, MWS tests humidity probes and their associated indicators from 11 to 75% RH using calibration sets. This service checks the complete measurement chain from probe through to display, confirming that the probe is performing within tolerance, the transmitter or indicator is reading correctly, and the system as a whole is delivering reliable data.

What is humidity mapping and which environments require it?

Humidity mapping is used to assess the humidity conditions within controlled environments such as environmental chambers. Using three calibrated probes, our engineers monitor humidity over a defined period to evaluate gradients within the space, stability over time, and overall compliance with your required limits. Our mapping equipment covers the full 0 to 100% RH range, making it suitable for a broad range of industrial and controlled applications.

Are MWS humidity calibration services traceable and accredited?

Absolutely. All MWS humidity calibrations are traceable to national standards. MWS is accredited to UKAS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and operates a quality management system certified to ISO 9001. Our procedures are fully documented and regularly audited, giving you the confidence and evidence you need to satisfy regulatory and quality requirements.

Where does MWS carry out humidity calibration?

MWS provides both on-site and in-house humidity calibration services. Our engineers operate from our Head Office in Leicester and our Northeast Service Centre in County Durham, giving us strong national coverage. For instruments that cannot leave your facility, we can come to you and carry out calibration as part of a scheduled site visit.

Can MWS calibrate other instruments during the same site visit?

Yes we can! This is one of the key advantages of working with MWS. In addition to humidity instruments, we are accredited to calibrate weighing equipment and a wide range of test and measurement tools. This means we can support your entire site with a joined-up, efficient approach, reducing downtime and the number of service providers you need to manage.

How do I arrange a humidity calibration service with MWS?

Getting started is straightforward. Simply get in touch with the MWS team and we’ll discuss your equipment, applicable standards, and scheduling requirements. We’ll recommend the most appropriate service – whether that’s simulation, loop testing, or environmental mapping – and provide clear, practical advice with no unnecessary complexity.
