Laboratory Balances: Supply, Installation and Calibration

At Micro Weighing Solutions, we take the time to listen to your needs and understand what you need from a laboratory balance. WithOhaus Analytical Balance decades of experience installing and maintaining balances across every kind of lab, we know what works for our clients.

Choosing a lab balance can often feel overwhelming due to the amount of manufacturers, models and specifications available in the market. That’s where we step in! We’ll talk through the options, explain what makes sense for your application, and help you decide. Because we’re not tied to any single manufacturer, we recommend what fits your needs, not what’s easiest for us or what we’re targeted to sell.

When it comes to delivery time we don’t just ship a box and hope it arrives in one piece, these are delicate pieces of measuring equipment. We come to your premises, install your balance, calibrate it on-site to either ISO 9001 or UKAS standards, and make sure everything is set up right, this included leveling, stabilisation settings, environmental factors which we can compensate for using setup filters, we handle it all so your measurements are accurate right from the start.

When you work with us, you get straight to the point advice from our team who’ve done this for years, professional onsite setup and calibration from our own technicians, and access to the network of trusted suppliers we’ve built up relationships with.

Laboratory Balance Ranges

Analytical Balances – 0.1mg

Precision weighing instruments designed for laboratory applications requiring exceptional accuracy. These highly sensitive devices can measure masses down to 0.1 milligrams (0.0001 grams)

Ohaus Analytical Balance

Semi Micro Balances – 0.01mg

Semi-micro balances offer high-precision weighing with readability down to 0.01 milligrams (10 micrograms), bridging the gap between analytical and micro balances. These instruments are ideal for applications requiring extreme accuracy without the higher cost of micro balances, including pharmaceutical formulation, chemical analysis, and materials testing.

Radwag Semi Micro Balance

Micro Balances – 0.001mg

Micro balances represent the pinnacle of weighing precision, capable of measuring masses down to 0.001 milligrams (1 microgram) with extraordinary accuracy. These ultra-sensitive instruments are essential for applications requiring the highest level of measurement precision, including pharmaceutical development, nanotechnology research, and advanced materials science.

Radwag Micro Balance

Ultra-Micro Balances – 0.0001mg

Ultra-micro balances deliver unparalleled weighing accuracy with resolution down to 0.0001 milligrams (0.1 micrograms), making them the most sensitive scales available for laboratory use. These premium instruments are critical for cutting-edge research in drug development, filter weighing, and nanomaterial characterisation where microscopic sample masses must be determined with absolute precision.

Radwag Ultra Micro Balance

Precision Balances – 0.1g to 1mg

Precision balances provide reliable weighing performance with readability ranging from 0.1 grams down to 1 milligram, offering an optimal balance between accuracy and capacity for routine laboratory tasks. These versatile weighing instruments are widely used across educational institutions, manufacturing facilities, and research environments for sample preparation, formulation work, and general weighing procedures.

Our Laboratory Balance Brands
At Micro Weighing Solutions, we work with the best laboratory balance manufacturers to make sure you get the right solution for your application. Our partnerships with A&D Instruments, Radwag, Ohaus, and Adam Equipment mean we can handle just about any weighing requirement you have.

A&D Instruments is one of the most respected names in precision weighing. Their balances are known for exceptional accuracy and durability, from analytical balances with readabilities down to 0.01 mg all the way up to high-capacity industrial models. If you need top-tier performance and can justify the investment, A&D delivers. Their products hold up in demanding lab environments where precision matters most.

Radwag brings Polish engineering excellence to the weighing industry. They’ve built a strong reputation for innovative features and solid construction, particularly in their analytical and microbalances. Radwag sits in the premium category alongside A&D, offering advanced functionality like internal calibration systems and touchscreen interfaces. Their balances perform reliably in research settings, quality control labs, and anywhere you can’t afford to question your measurements.

Ohaus has been a staple in laboratories for over a century. They hit a sweet spot between performance and price. You get dependable accuracy without paying for features you might not need. Their product line covers everything from basic portable balances to precision analytical models. Ohaus is the go-to when you need solid, proven technology and a reasonable price tag. Labs stock these because they work, year after year.

Adam Equipment focuses on delivering good value. Their balances won’t wow you with fancy extras, but they’ll give you accurate measurements at a fraction of the cost of premium brands. For routine weighing tasks, quality control checks, or educational settings where budget matters, Adam makes a lot of sense. You’re not sacrificing accuracy, just some of the advanced features.

The MWS advantage

The real advantage of working with MWS is that we’re not locked into pushing one brand. We look at your actual needs and recommend what genuinely fits.

Sometimes that’s a high-end analytical balance, sometimes it’s a workhorse from Ohaus that’ll serve you well for years. Either way, you’re getting straight advice based on what will actually work for your situation, backed by our experience installing balances in every kind of lab imaginable.

Lab Balance Installation: Getting It Right Matters

Even the best laboratory balance won’t perform properly if it’s set up incorrectly. We’ve seen expensive equipment underperform or give inconsistent readings simply because installation fundamentals were overlooked. That’s where having experienced guidance makes all the difference.

Proper balance installation starts with the foundation. The surface needs to be stable, level, and isolated from vibration. A balance sitting on a wobbly bench or near a busy walkway will never give you reliable measurements, no matter how good the instrument is. We’ve seen balances placed next to centrifuges, near HVAC vents, or on surfaces that flex when someone walks by. These things kill accuracy.

Environmental factors matter enormously. Temperature fluctuations, drafts, humidity, and even static electricity all affect readings. A balance positioned near a window or under an air conditioning vent is fighting an uphill battle. We assess your actual lab conditions during installation and position equipment where it’ll perform best, or recommend simple fixes like draft shields or anti-vibration tables when needed.

Leveling is non-negotiable. Every precision balance has bubble levels built in for a reason. Being off by even a fraction of a degree introduces errors. We level every balance properly during installation and show you how to check it yourself, because things can shift over time.

Then there’s calibration and verification. Installing the balance is only half the job. We calibrate onsite using certified and traceable weights, verify performance across the full weighing range, and test under your actual operating conditions. You need to know the balance performs correctly before you start relying on it for real work. We don’t leave until we’re confident you’re getting accurate measurements.

We can also carry out IQ/OQ/PQ documentation and minimum weight testing to ensure you get the most from your laboratory balance
