Mushroom Tech To Arrive in Europe: MycoTechnology

The EU’s recognition of FermentIQ by MycoTechnology as a Novel Food has enabled the business to accelerate its growth into other markets including Europe.

MycoTechnology leverages mycelia-based food-processing technology to dramatically elevate the taste and worth of agricultural goods.

Drawing on their US roots, MycoTechnology has joined forces with global ingredients giant IFF (International Flavours and Fragrances) to develop novel proteins tailored specifically for the European market. By uniting IFF’s vast knowledge of the industry and the startup’s pioneering mycelial fermentation platform, this partnership intends to generate innovative solutions for food and drink brands.

After the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) declared FermentIQ pea and rice protein fermented by shiitake mushroom mycelia to be safe for a variety of food and beverage categories, authorization was granted from the EU.

MycoTechnology’s recent Series E Fundraise, raising a substantial $85m to support the development and spread of its technology, will serve as an essential foundation for their European expansion.
