For wet environments we offer standard 304 stainless steel with a bead blast finish, in corrosive and pharmaceutical environments we can offer 316 stainless steel with an electro or machine polished finish. In dry conditions we offer a range of protective coatings suited to your specific environment from galvanizing, wet paint to powder coating.
What sets MWS manufacturing apart is our quality control process. Each scale undergoes full load testing before dispatch, ensuring calibration accuracy and structural performance meet our high standards and specifications.
We manufacture for versatility. Standard platform sizes suit common applications, but custom dimensions, capacities, and features are routine for our production team. Integrated ramps, pit frames for flush-mount installation, multiple load cells for large platforms, and various indicator options all come from the same facility. This manufacturing capability means your weighing solution fits your operation, not the other way around.

ATEX Floor Scale Options
Operating in potentially explosive atmospheres requires specialized equipment, and MWS has extensive experience manufacturing ATEX-certified floor scales for hazardous environments. These aren’t standard scales with a certificate attached, they’re purpose-built weighing systems designed from the ground up to meet stringent safety requirements.
ATEX certification is mandatory in industries handling flammable gases, vapours, or combustible dusts. Chemical processing plants, grain storage facilities, paint manufacturing, pharmaceutical production, and fuel distribution all require equipment that won’t become an ignition source. Our ATEX scales are engineered to eliminate sparks, control surface temperatures, and contain any potential ignition within protected enclosures.
We offer ATEX weighing solutions across multiple zone classifications and gas groups. Zone 1 and Zone 2 equipment for gas atmospheres, Zone 21 and Zone 22 for dust environments – our design team specifies the correct protection methods for your specific hazard assessment. Intrinsically safe load cells, flameproof junction boxes, and certified indicators ensure complete system compliance.
The technical complexity of ATEX equipment demands real expertise. Our engineers understand the regulations, the testing requirements, and the practical implementation challenges. We work through your ATEX zoning documentation, identify the appropriate equipment category, and configure a weighing system that meets both safety standards and operational needs.

Our ATEX scales maintain the same build quality as our standard range while incorporating the additional protective measures required for hazardous areas. Stainless steel construction is common for chemical resistance, and all electrical components carry proper certification markings. We provide complete documentation packages including EU declarations of conformity and technical files to satisfy your compliance obligations.
Safety in explosive atmospheres isn’t negotiable, and neither is weighing accuracy. Our ATEX scales deliver both.
Our Design Team
Behind every MWS floor scale is a design team using professional-grade CAD tools to turn your requirements into manufacturable reality.
Working primarily in Autodesk Inventor, our engineers create detailed 3D models that capture every dimension, material specification, and assembly detail before fabrication begins.
This software capability transforms how we approach custom projects. A client recently needed a 4m x 2m scale to fit between existing conveyor lines with only 80mm of clearance underneath. Our team modelled the entire installation in Inventor, identified a load cell configuration that would work within the height restriction, and produced photorealistic renders showing exactly how the finished scale would integrate with their conveyors. The client approved the design with confidence, and installation went smoothly because every measurement had been verified in the model.
Autodesk Inventor allows our engineers to test ideas digitally. We can simulate load distributions, check for structural weak points, plan cable routing that won’t interfere with cleaning operations, and ensure access panels are positioned where maintenance teams can actually reach them. This virtual prototyping catches design issues that would be expensive to fix during manufacturing or installation.
Bespoke scales are standard work for our design office.
Whether it’s an explosion-proof weighing platform for a chemical plant, a hygienic stainless scale with IP69K protection for food processing, or a custom pit frame to retrofit into an existing concrete foundation, our team has the tools and experience to design it properly.
The renders we produce aren’t just pretty pictures – they’re accurate representations of what you’ll receive, helping you make informed decisions and plan installation logistics.
Why Choose MWS for Industrial Floor Scales
Choosing an industrial floor scale supplier means choosing a partner for the life of your equipment, and MWS brings several distinct advantages that matter when you’re making a significant investment in weighing infrastructure.
Our lifetime structural warranty demonstrates genuine confidence in manufacturing quality. The welded steel framework that supports your weighing platform is guaranteed against defects for as long as you own the scale. This warranty covers material failures and workmanship issues in the main structure – we’re not expecting claims because we build these frames to last. Many of our scales installed in the 1990s are still operating with original structures, needing only routine calibration and occasional load cell replacement.
Manufacturing in the UK means you’re dealing directly with the source. Technical questions reach the engineers who designed your scale. Modification requests go to the production team who’ll implement them. There’s no middleman translating requirements or explaining limitations they don’t fully understand. This direct relationship speeds up problem-solving and ensures accurate communication.
We understand that weighing requirements vary enormously. A recycling facility weighing scrap metal has different needs than a pharmaceutical company batching ingredients or a logistics operation charging by weight. Our team takes time to understand your specific application, then configures or builds a scale that actually fits. Standard products where they make sense, custom solutions when they don’t we’re equipped for both.
Quality components matter for long-term performance. We specify recognised load cell manufacturers, source structural steel to verified grades, and use electrical components rated for industrial environments. Cutting costs on critical parts creates future problems, and we’re not interested in that approach.

OEM and Trade Partnerships
MWS supplies industrial floor scales through multiple channels, serving both direct UK customers and international markets through established partnerships. This dual approach has built our expertise while expanding the reach of our Leicester manufacturing.
Our OEM relationships involve integrating weighing platforms into larger systems.
Conveyor manufacturers incorporate our scales into check weighing lines. Packaging machinery builders specify our platforms for bulk filling operations. Material handling equipment suppliers include our weighing technology in automated storage systems. These partnerships demand precision – our scales must interface correctly with their control systems, fit within their dimensional constraints, and perform reliably as part of a complete solution.
We also work with distributors and trade partners who supply our scales to end users in their local markets. These partners understand their regional regulations, language requirements, and customer preferences while relying on our manufacturing consistency and technical support. Floor scales built in Leicester operate across Europe, North America, and beyond, often customised for local standards while maintaining our core quality approach.
For UK businesses, we offer direct supply with all the advantages that brings – no international shipping delays, straightforward warranty claims, local calibration services, and engineers who can visit your site when needed. You get the same scales our international partners are buying, with the added benefit of dealing directly with the manufacturer.
This combination of direct and partner sales has refined our products. International standards compliance, diverse application experience, and feedback from various markets all improve what we build for everyone. Whether you’re a UK end user or working through one of our partners, you benefit from this accumulated knowledge.
Choose MWS to Look After Your Floor Scales – Maintenance and Calibration Services
An industrial floor scale is an investment that requires ongoing attention to maintain accuracy and maximize service life. MWS provides comprehensive maintenance and calibration services that keep your weighing equipment performing correctly year after year.
Calibration is fundamental to reliable measurements. Load cells drift over time due to constant stress, temperature cycling, and simple aging. Without regular calibration, your scale might be reading 2% high or low, a small percentage that translates to significant costs when you’re weighing thousands of tonnes annually. Our certified technicians perform calibration using traceable test weights, adjusting your system to meet accuracy specifications and providing documentation for quality management systems or legal metrology requirements.
Preventive maintenance extends equipment life and prevents unexpected failures. During scheduled service visits, our technicians inspect load cell mountings, check cable connections, clean debris from under platforms, verify junction box seals, and test indicator functions. They spot worn components before they fail, tighten connections that have loosened from vibration, and catch corrosion early. This proactive approach is far more cost-effective than emergency repairs when production is stopped.
Our technicians have an advantage – they understand these scales because we built them. They know the load cell configuration, recognize normal wear patterns, and can quickly diagnose unusual behaviour. This familiarity makes service calls more efficient and repairs more reliable.
We structure maintenance contracts around actual needs rather than rigid packages. High-volume operations benefit from quarterly attention, while others operate well with annual calibration. We’ll honestly recommend what makes sense for your usage.
Parts availability is straightforward when the manufacturer provides the service. We stock components for current models and can fabricate replacements for older equipment. Combined with our UK locations, this means faster turnaround when parts are needed.
