World Steak Challenge Returns

The World Steak Challenge will return to Dublin on September 27 and 28, where the finest cuts of meat from around the world will be put to the test.

The World’s Steak Challenge is an annual event that has been held since 2008. It highlights the finest steak producers and suppliers from all around the world, all competing in three categories: fillet, rib eye, and sirloin.

In 2022, the World Steak Challenge will be hosted by Bord Bia in conjunction with Synergy Grill Technology, the equipment partner and FIRE Steakhouse, the judging partner.

JN Meat International has won the ‘world’s best steak’ prize three times in a row, but this year it looks like they might be dethroned. Hundreds of companies have entered their steaks into the competition, and it looks to be anyone’s game at this point.

“With over 20 countries involved, it truly is a global event to highlight the quality of steak on an international scale”, says World Steak Challenge Head of Events, Ellie Knight.

The World Steak Challenge is judged by blind by a panel of over 60 independent experts. There are two stages involved in the challenge: Technical Judging is the first stage in the evaluation process, in which experts evaluate steaks on raw and cooked criteria. The second stage, Consumer Judging, is when the top-scoring steaks are tasted and tested by consumers of different nationalities and backgrounds.

The top scoring steak will win “The World’s Best Steak” Award. All steaks have the chance to win a gold, silver or bronze medal.
